Baba-e-Urdu Molvi Abdul Haq played a role in film Hamari Zabban (1955) which was the first ever Karachi-made film. The film subject was to promote Urdu language in Pakistan.
Molvi Abdul Haq also played a very controversial role in Pakistan's history, when he leads more than one lakh demonstrators against the decision of the Bengali Prime Minster of Pakistan Mohammad Ali Bogra to make Bengali the second national language of Pakistan. (Bengali was declared the second national language on May 7, 1954).
Molvi sahib was born on April 20, 1870 in UP, India and died on August 16, 1961 in Karachi.
